Easy ways to reduce waste.

HOW TO REDUCE WASTE EASILY
How do you continue the good vibe of the Climate March in a way that’s meaningful but manageable
(ie without adding to your nervous breakdown)?

How do we make a difference beyond just a reusable coffee cup?

Gift Wrap Waste Facts:
Aussies use about 8000 mature trees for gift wrap each year.
Gift wrap is mostly not recyclable (There’s too much ink).

Here are easy ways to cut down gift waste by 90%

  1. Wrap in a beautiful tea towel or rescued fabric: old muslin wraps, brown paper or recycled paper. Pages from old picture books – What are you planning to do with 26 Encyclopedia Britannica you wanted to cut up for projects as a child? (or was that just me??)
  2. Give an experience rather than a thing – A dinner out, wine tasting, surfing lesson, any(not)thing!
  3. Pool your resources, give one gift instead of 20+. Create and share a link in 1 minute so it’s easy. www.GroupTogether.com. Save on petrol, time and land fill from gift wrap, plastic packaging and unwanted gifts. Think milestone bdays, kids birthdays, farewell, get well, marry well.
  4. Donate part of a gift to a charity. If it’s through GroupTogether, we’ll send the details straight to any Australian registered charity and they’ll do the thank you’s and tax receipts. (EASY). Consider:
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Australian Conservation Foundation
  • Climate Action Network Australia
  • NSW Rural Fire Services Association (RFSA)

Rescue old fabric for gift wrap instead.

If you’ve chipped in for a gift through GroupTogether, YOU ROCK!
In the last year, you helped save:

  • 28,220 trips to the shops + 12,613 Litres of petrol.
  • 1660 rubbish bags saved from landfill
  • 19,754 unwanted gifts
